These awards recognise the simple fact that the work of a newbie blogger whose site has only attracted 10 hits can be ranked alongside an experienced blogger whose url has 10,000 hits.

    DAVID, DAVID, DAVID...OMG!!! I have not been #1 at anything writing/computer related in so many, many years. This is thrilling and you can imagine my eyes...when I peeked at the award standings and me, little toiletpaper56 was #1.     14 is good. Your conquest of the world has not taken a backward step yet.

    It's a tough competition, buddy - and you've held your ground in a week where there have been some BIG slides down the ladder.

    One week, when my novel `Vegemite Vindaloo' had come down from #3 to #4 on the bestseller list (on the same list as the Booker Prize winner and listed above Jeffrey Archer and Frederick Forsyth) I shook my head and thought: ``Gee, it's slid to #4.'' And then I got a grip and reminded myself that I was on a bestseller list with some of the biggest names in the business.

    My message to you (and to everyone else reading this) is that you have already achieved so much. Even if you do slip, it's just the quality of the competition.

    And therein lies the challenge. You have what it takes. But you have to prove it - EVERY week!

    Chin up, mate. You can do it, and you will.
