Stand Up Routine

This Must Be The Dummy Bidder

These two pictures were shot beside the New Market in Calcutta. At first glance, it looks like the bloke is catching the latest headlines before he gets into his car. Right? Nope. Wrong. Completely wrong. Now have a look at the picture below. The guy is actually a dummy. Yes, yes, I know you think most blokes are dummies anyway, but he's just a mannequin. The clothes are real. And the newspaper's real. And because I'm a stickler for detail, I even went and checked on the dateline on the newspaper. It was the edition of the day, so I'm guessing someone replaces the newspaper every day and places the current edition in his waxy hands.

    Hi Sam,

    The lane at the side of the New Empire cinema - next to the ganna juice wallah and the puchka wallah.

    By the way, the ganna juice wallah gets a description in my novel Vegemite Vindaloo!

    Aha!! got teh spot..... opposite to Shriram Arcade!! now... never tried teh juice walah.. but the fuchka wallahs are awesome.... everytime i'm in cal, i make it a point to visit dat spot once!! a must have for the true foodie!!

    Yup. Even Gogle Earth could not have been more accurate.

    I actually have an interesting shot taken at Shriram Arcade as well. Will post that shortly.

    It is a great spot for anyone who is hungry! Lots of choices.

    I never forget my Indian roots. If you get a chance and read my novel, you'll see many descriptive passages, lovingly crafted from a happy childhood in a wonderful country, that evoke many familiar Indian scenes.

    There's also one next to the front entrance of New Market. But that was about 4 years ago and not as sophisticated.
