Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHONThis photograph is for Hammer, who told me some time ago that he is a Batman fan. This street sign is not a Photoshop effort; it's a real dinky-di, genuine picture. You see, John Batman was the founder of Melbourne. The historic building on the left is the old headquarters of the Herald and Weekly Times. CityLink, in case you're wondering, is the integrated tollway system that encompasses all the city's different freeways. Normal street signs here are white on a dark green background, while CityLink signage is yellow on blue.
Where I live there is a place called Bat Cave.
ReplyDeleteit certainly is a fun sign anyway. in my home state (pennsylvania) we are known for some rather suggestive town names existing in the middle of the conservative amish enclave....intercourse, paradise, bird-in-hand, blue ball are all town names in close proximity to each other. and yes, the jokie is 'you have to go through intercourse to get to paradise.'
ReplyDeleteI'm a batman fan myself, and love the sign too :)
ReplyDeleteHi Whimsy,
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm off to check the link.
