Liquid Gold In The Sky

Morning Has Broken (But I've Fixed It Now!)

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Sometimes you're just in the right place at the right time. This shot was taken about five months ago, during the Australian winter. I just gaped at the sky with disbelief because it looked more like a summer skyscape than a freezing cold morning when I had ice on my car. I framed this shot carefully, because I wanted the silhouette of the trees as well. Just as I lined up the shot, three seagulls in very loose formation flew into the mid-section of the frame. I could not have asked for more.

  7. Another beauty David.

I often hear people complain about the dull colors of winter but I actually think that the low light of the winter sky is often some of the most beautiful light of the year.

  13. Wow! A stained glass sky! David, did you know that they use gold to fire the red in stained glass. It's so valuable they sell it by the inch.

    Exquisite! Peace! & Joy!

I have a question about copyrighting. I notice you note copyright on each photo as well as on your sidebar.

Better safe than sorry....or really necessary?

  25. A "red sky at morning" photo: did the weather disintegrate during that day? The gulls are the perfect touch; you captured the colors beautifully.
