  2. Might one surmise that it was fine for $500?

Cheap in comparison to smoking in a lift in Singapore! Good shot!

  5. I was searching for your email, to thank you for your kind words on Much to My Sjogren.

My cluster headaches have ceased, leaving as quickly as they came. Quite mysterious...

    Thank you again.

  12. Ok, knowing that the KJV of the Bible has the phrase, "he who pisseth against a wall," I'm wondering just when this sign was deemed necessary. :)

    Joy!

Ha!! Thanks for the laugh...I needed that! I've been a "lurker" here for a while, but I don't think I've ever left a comment. Just wanted to say hello and I love your blog! (I also have a huge, crazy fascination with Australia, but whatever.)

  15. Is that a prohibition for men only? What a crazy sign. It's hard to believe someone thought an explanation was necessary! Thanks for the laugh, David.

  21. There are many Indian and Bangladeshi workers in Singapore. every Sunday they would go to Little India in Singapore to meet their friends or do their weekly grocery shopping. Hundreds and thousands of them.

There are not enough toilets for them to use, so they pee behind the back lanes and roadsides. The business owners and residents in Little India are frustrated with their inconsiderate behaviour. By putting up these signs, they hope to have a cleaner and less polluted environment.

  23. I spent time in the late 80's in West Africa ... same kind of sign only in French! Not that the signs did much good. Some bus stop areas in the city were pretty high with the small of urine. Ugh! Good luck finding a toilet! If I took the bus, I didn't drink very much before hand. When the bus stopped, everyone piled out. The men lined up outside the bus and peed. The ladies held their pagnes around themselves a little further off and peed ... then piled back on the bus again. Nope, this is one serious sign ... only hopefully Little India did provide a spot to pee in! When you gotta go you gotta go!
