At Least They’ll Learn How To Spell
An English village school is to scrap its historic witch logo because of fears that it drives away pupils and teachers. Warboys Community Primary School has used the emblem of a witch riding a broomstick for more than 60 years, marking the fact that the Cambridgeshire village was the last place in England to hang witches.
FOOTNOTE: Wicca basket.
That's too bad. I think they should keep it for its history and its meaning.
ReplyDeleteHow ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a silly idea!
ReplyDeleteNo sense of belonging in the world these days is there. This country is losing all it's wonderful heritage and fascinating history because of do-gooders and political correctness. But I guess I'm opening up a huge can of worms there.

I bet the kids are miffed as well. I know I am!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone here, leave it! Makes for a great story and great town character.
ReplyDeleteThat's really too bad. Erases the character.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should just upgrade to a witch on a hoover.

Okay, but if they get rid of the witch and her broom, who's sweeping the history under the rug?
ReplyDeleteAt least they didn't burn them.
ReplyDeleteI think most witches would rather be hung than burned, so maybe that town should be applauded for being so humane.
In the words of Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
ReplyDeleteI'm not a witch! They just dressed me this way!!!
But do they still get to wear their black, pointy hats to school?
ReplyDeleteSo, the town ditched the witches but left Warboys alone? Hello? Did they fear reprisals from Her Majesty's Armed Forces? Or maybe Slitherin House?
ReplyDeleteWarboys and witches. What a combination!
ReplyDeleteGreat puns again. Wicca basket. Another groan I'm afraid!
Unbelievable! What is wrong with people?
