Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

I can tally finches
I can measure inches
But I always need to extrapolate theta
To work out the length of a parking meter

  1. Now that's truly international rhyming. Tally is UK, inches is US, theta is Greek, and I guess the parking meter is a world wide phenomena.

    Well done, David! :)

There once was a fellow from Melbourne,
Who greeted parking meters quite forlorn,
    They wanted his money,
But refused to call him "honey",
So now their whole ilk he's forsworn.

  3. That's wonderful...! It has a real Ogden Nash feel to it.

"God in his wisdom made the fly
And then forgot to tell us why."

    ....Ogden Nash

Some Austrian cities figure it out for you: In goes the coin, out comes a receipt with the time you'll have to leave the parking space. You'll have to stick this receipt behind the window shield so your meter maid will know too. ;-)

  6. IT's a good thing Lee explained this, because I was slow on the up-take. =)

  7. The parking meter inventor, I feel,
Has never even been behind a wheel!

What Lee said, made me realize how brilliant that was.......... truly international! I wouldn't have realized without him pointing it out.

  10. No wonder I can't work out the length of a parking meter! I can't extrapolate theta!

And lee's comment made me realise too just how clever this rhyme is on so many levels! Well done.

And texas travelers - David always stimulates the grey cells. Dang it (as my US cousins would say!)
