I Ran All The Way
A birthday card sent from East Yorkshire to Hampshire arrived two weeks late - after a 6,000-mile detour via Tehran, Iran. Audrey Flood posted it from Hutton Cranswick to her friend Win Hopes, 280 miles away in Southsea, but it finally turned up with a postmark on it from the Iranian capital.
FOOTNOTE: Card blanche.
That's quite a journey for a car. Not everyday a person gets to see that Tehran postmark.

Wonderful that the US Postal Service has imported its expertise to the Mother Land...I once got a birthday card by way of Israel...we still don't know how a card that was mailed in New Jersey went to South Carolina via Haifa...

ReplyDeleteSome years ago, a large business envelope, sent from an address in Austria, mailed to me in Washington DC, arrived via Australia. I still wonder what "they" were thinking! ;-)

ReplyDeleteJust last month a friend of mine in Seattle sent me a letter. It took four weeks to arrive and showed up with a rubber stamp on the envelope, "Mis-sent to Thailand".
