Out Of Africa

That's No Uphill Struggle

A Glasgow-born African skier who only saw snow for the first time five years ago is the first Ghanaian to qualify for the Winter Olympics. Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, 33, nicknamed the Snow Leopard, said, "Even now, when I go to big events, there are people who refuse to believe that an African can ski."

  1. That is so funny! Do they not realize that Africa has mountains like everyone else and would have snow as well?

  5. It was even more strange, when he was on the TV news a few days back, to see the tiny, indoor ski slope where he learned to do it!

  7. Strange, considering the high mountains there are in Africa. Much higher than in Scotland.

Well good luck to him...hope he doesn't suffer the same fate as our Eddie the Eagle. We love him but he was made into a bit of a buffoon by the press.
