You know when you have one of those lightbulb moments, when something throws a switch and a little light illuminates your brain? I’ve often driven past this Melbourne landmark and it suddenly struck me that it would be perfect for this week’s representation of Camera Critters.
The horse that stands proud and tall above this old store has obviously been there for years. The shop is called Horse Torque And Lollies and I just thought it took its name from nearby Caulfield racecourse.
But then I did a little reading around the subject and found out that I was wrong. In its earliest guise, the place sold a wide variety of equine products and – judging by its location – must have done a roaring trade.

I have started reading it with great joy in the writing and a little bit of sadness at the hard lives of the Indians.
We were fascinated by India when we were there in March --but also a bit overwhelmed.

I had a friend, she saw a giant cow sign fall down. The giant cow sign was out front of a cafe. Nobody was hurt by the plummeting cow, they patched the beast back up and stuck him back atop the building. Good as new.

ReplyDeleteYou want to talk about ah-ha moments? I have Pentax lenses from years of film-using and the other day a co-worker told me she bought a Canon Rebel so that she could use all of her Canon lenses. I went to bed and woke up at about 3 in the morning and went aha! Maybe I can buy a Pentax digital box and use all of my lenses. I haven't done the research but it's sure worth a try. It is sort of humbling.

ReplyDeleteThat is quite a horse of a sign....I've only been to the race track a few times myself, once to the Kentucky Derby. Loved the energy and excitement.
