Can you solve this mystery?

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON. (Image ID:125-7620)

Just a simple shot, of a common object. It's something I like doing. No tricks, no sleight of hand. No magic wand, no smoke or mirrors. But can you identify what I've displayed here?

You can have as many guesses as you want, in the comments section. If no one solves it in 24 hours, I'll reveal the answer on this post. But if you're curious and you really MUST know what it is, then just click on this image of mine for the solution!

(AS PROMISED, HERE IS THE ANSWER, 24 hours after posting the image. This depicts a row of Nintendo 64 game cartridges!)

  10. I looked at the link. I wouldn't have guessed though I thought they might have been old 8-Track cartridges.. but then again, you said a common object. And I figured you'd meant common in this century. ;)

  17. I have no idea. I don't like to look until I've had time to try and figure it out for myself...but looking at the comments, it doesn't look like it will be an easy one....sigh.
I've 'thunk' and 'thunk"...clueless...(again)...going to your link!
    OK...I'm back...and I would never have guessed either...even though I have seen these....sigh.
    Much fun! Thank you!!!

  18. No tricks, no treats,
    No magical wands,
    A mix that meets,
    Over pastel ponds.

  19. I reckon they look a little bit like the old nintendo 68 cartridges...but it's probably not that...but maybe some other kind of cartridge???

  20. I had to cheat as usual, but I'd never have guessed anyway as I've never seen these.

  23. Still thinking - I found this much easier LOL:

There are eight doors in a row. Behind each door is a number. Each number is less than 20. No two numbers are the same, and the numbers on the doors are in order.

    • three of the numbers are prime numbers
    • two of the numbers are square numbers
    • two of the numbers are multiples of 5
    • five of the numbers are even
    • three is a factor of two of the numbers
    • there is a run of two consecutive numbers, and another run of four consecutive numbers.
    • the numbers sum to 93
What are the numbers on the doors?

  25. Neither me... could have never guessed.
    It makes a great picture.

  26. My first guess would have been a display of suitcases of some sort, but a close-up some plastic wonder tools is more likely.

    In other words - I haven't a clue and I won't cheat :-)

  27. I think it was artist materials in cases.
I will have to go & see now.
