Verse and worse

No mood is more bellicose
Than Rear-Admiral Jellicoe's
He ordered the fleet from New York to Crete
With no thought of danger, or fear of defeat

  1. These Rear Admirals are all the same
They all do daft things to get fame
    There was Francis Drake
Who bowled when Armada news brake
And finished game before battle did break.

Just on my way to bed . . . and saw your post LOL. Had to have a go.

  3. Nice work, Eddie. I remember as a kid, being entranced that he was playing bowls.

I also remember a sombre poem about Drake's drum ....

  7. I tied one, but that seems to have got lost in transit. I hopefully remember what I wrote:

    I won't make fun of a General
Who wanted to play with an Admiral
    But the soldiers had tea
    The navy was at sea
    The General is now Corporal

  8. An Admiral's bravery
    Keeps others from slavery.
    Without courageous men
    Where would we be then?

  9. Of famous seamen we've had plenty
From Drake and Raliegh to Nelson
When it comes to a fight
    They gather up tight.
And Queenie says 'you sure did do well son.
