Grave Doubts, But People Are Dying To Get In
Officials in an Italian town are selling lottery tickets - for places in the local cemetery. Marano, near Naples, has run out of room at the town's cemetery and had to create a new "emergency" graveyard containing 48 plots. Authorities feared people would try to bribe officials to get plots and decided to stage the lottery instead.

Are you sure they are selling lottery tickets? I'm thinking more like plottery tickets. Can't you just see the lucky winner jumping up and down, yelling "Yay! I won a hole in the ground!".

ReplyDeleteWell, instead of using the last available ground for individual plots, they should have made those little boxes for remains from creating. Plan ahead, I say! That would have helped fulfill the need for more space in the future.

ReplyDeleteI think they should go international. Just imagine the number of movie stars in the US who'd spend heavily for a cemetery plot in a quaint little Italian town. LOL! The town would be famous, and it'd be great for local economic development.

That beats all! At a funeral recently, I heard about a mosaleum that was climate controlled, had piped-in music, and included a coffee bar for the bereaved.
