It’s All Downhill From Here
Lucky he didn't go to a vineyard. An accountant who slipped on a grape outside a Marks & Spencer store is suing the company for more than $600,000 as his injuries stopped him enjoying skiing holidays. Alexander Martin-Sklan, 55, began his London High Court action this week after the 2004 fall plunged him into a ``deep depression'' after he ruptured his quadriceps tendon. The accountant also claimed his business had suffered after the incident near his North London home.
FOOTNOTE: Piste off.
Given the High Profile of M&S especially in the UK he could have sued for a lot more than that!
ReplyDeleteThis sort of thing really annoys me - it should be outlawed!
ReplyDeleteAward over here for you!

Something to wine about, eh?
ReplyDeleteThe media love to report these type of law suits as examples of how there needs to be reform, but most law suits the person who has been harmed barely covers the damage they sustained.
ReplyDeleteAnnoys me too! So i wont comment!!!
ReplyDeleteGolly!! There's a saying taken from an old children's program (think it was Crackajack), it goes, "Oooh, I could crush a grape."
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he gets his 600k. Was it a green one or red?
If the fellow can't handle his grape he has no buisness on the slopes.
ReplyDeleteNext they'll be suing parents because their nose isn't perfect...or some other hog wash!
ReplyDeleteHe's depressed? How's the grape doing?
ReplyDeleteOMG! For as clumsy as I am...I don't think that I could even have fallen that hard on a grape. Sheesh! Maybe he'll need a little cheese with that whine!
ReplyDeleteThe title cracked me up! I guess you could say the wine was so good he flipped over it!
ReplyDeletePeace - d
This business should countersue....some guy's idiocy is bringing down their reputation.
ReplyDeleteMaybe M&S are a bit piste off...
ReplyDeleteI love David C's comment - yeah what about the grape?
Yet another funny but ridiculous life situation. Where do you find them?
Darn that Bradley! Beat me again! I was gonna say he's raisin' cain!
ReplyDeleteeveryone's all about the lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteSo, let me see if I've got this right, the man wasn't watching where he was going, tripped over a grape on a public sidewalk, and is suing a department store -- one that doesn't sell grapes -- for the resulting damages?
ReplyDelete(Even if you tell me I have a perfect grasp of all of the facts, I am still going to have to tell you I don't understand!)
How ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteNo more throwing the gauntlet, a grape will do! :-) "La Vie en Rose" no more, nowaday it's plastered with greenbacks.
ReplyDeleteNow are we sure it was a grape and not the entire bottle? Sounds like a drunkard to me
