Would The Queen Call This An Annus Horribilis?
A German pensioner is suing a hospital after she checked in for an operation on her leg – but was given a new anus instead. The clinic in Hochfranken, Bavaria, has suspended the surgical team after they apparently mixed up the notes for two patients. The woman complainant was expecting an operation on her leg, while another patient, suffering from incontinence, was scheduled for surgery on her sphincter. The pensioner , who still needs to have the leg surgery, is looking for another hospital to perform the operation.
FOOTNOTE: Bummer.
Your footnote is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe story, not so much. What a horror story.
Good call pensioner. I'd be finding another hospital too!
ReplyDeleteMy dad insists on marking "x marks the spot" on any area upon which a surgeon might get his hands ...Daddy being a GP of many years is distrustful of them, any of them lol...and who could top the footnote? Certainly not I!
ReplyDeleteSandi
Marvelous David! Big laugh on my part! How in the world did they mix that up? :D
ReplyDeleteYour footnotes always crack me up. Bummer. Classic.
ReplyDeleteThat poor pensioner! This whole thing is certain to be a continuing pain in the -- as for the doctors (plural) how is it that not one of them checked the identity of the patient?! They need to find jobs in another field -- preferably one without sharp instruments.
ReplyDeleteThis is horrible. But when things like this happen at hospitals, isn't it clear that certain procedures aren't necessary? And where are the patient files?
ReplyDeleteYikes!

And the news stories are very funny! Thanks for the chuckle.
Footnote and header are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteDon't know about Her Majesty, whose continence problems mostly have to do with her offspring, but one of those patients is still stuck with an annulus horribilis. Which I'm told is properly spelt "anulus horribilis". As if things weren't already bad enough.
ReplyDeleteYou can blame me on Quilly.
I need that new leg like I need a new....
ReplyDeleteBlimey! Think of all the other kind of ops that surgeons could mix up! The mind boggles.
ReplyDeleteOh good Lord. Idiots abound. This is indeed a bummer. Have a great day David. :)
ReplyDeleteno, i wouldn't be looking for a new hospital. i think the fun of body-part-roulette would be worth another trip. what might she get next? she might come back with a new jaw! the better to eat with! a new anus - oh the years ahead of that-activity-i-alread-mentioned-once-this-week-and-shouldn't-mention-again-or-i'll-be-the-poop-lady she will do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pain in the ass.
ReplyDeleteBummer is right, David.
ReplyDeleteSomeone's head was apparently in Uranus.
I made sure the surgeon marked my leg before my knee operation, after reading this I'm glad I did! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could get a NEW anus from the "human parts catalog"! Maybe I should check that out!
ReplyDeleteWhat are they---chrome-plated, to "resist rust, and/or corrosion, from overexposure to the elements"?
I could use a leg or two, as well---chrome or not...!
