The Prints Of Wales

If At First You Don't Secede, Try, Try Again

An English village is holding a referendum on defecting to Wales - for benefits such as free prescriptions and free hospital car parking. Residents of Audlem, Cheshire, nine miles from the Welsh border, have organised an online poll asking villagers whether it is time to break away from England.

  1. Free prescriptions. Hey, I'm on my way. I spell my surname in the Welsh manner.

  2. Not that far from me! It won't just be a case of whether they want to be part of Wales, but also a case of whether Wales wants them!!

  4. Meds and parking are pretty important. Poor ol' Britain sure has gone to pieces over the past few centuries!

  6. Cheers to Wales! I don't know why, but I've always been fascinated with it. I would secede, myself, but I don't think it'd work from across the pond. <:( Heddwch!

  7. Hmmm, I can't imagine Wales wanting them for those reasons. Maybe they should be a little more flattering, eg. "We want to be part of Wales because it's such a stunning country with warm, beautiful and intelligent people and nice cakes." That should do it.

  8. Yes, I know about this!

No, Wales won't want them! Why should they?
I think all Britain should be the same. One rule for all.

  11. From what I keep hearing, I don't blame them at all! I'd be allowed in as I am 1/4 Welsh already :-)

But as Jonah would tell you, life isn't all it's cracked up to be in Whales.

  13. residents living close to the Scottish border are also petitioning to leave England to be classified Scottish for the same reasons, since Scotland also offer the same benefits. However, prescriptions in England are still heavily substisised by the National Health Service, and hospital care and visits to the family doctor still remains free.

  14. Love your title. Ha!

I would like to defect to Wales, especially if I could take on the same voice of Catherine Zeta Jones.
