I might not have the skill of a gold miner. I might not have the granite jaw of a Klondike old-timer. But I wouldn't mind picking up some gold nuggets here in the Yukon - if I could only find them.
This shot was taken in a shop window in Dawson City - looking in from the outside. I had a smile on my face because of the three signs against the glass pane, so of course I had to wander up for a closer look.
That's when I noticed the soft reflection in the glass, so I did what comes naturally. I took the photograph.
On reflection, though, I think I have really found pure 22-karat gold here in this frontier territory that I love so much. The Yukon keeps drawing me back like an international magnet. It enriches my soul.
That's gold enough for me.
(The Odd Shots concept came from Katney. Say "G'day" to her.)
I struck gold in Fort Langley! Well, okay it wasn't "real" but it was a lot of fun to pan. Sounds like you're really enjoying your "work" up there! ;D
ReplyDeleteI shall pop over and attempt a 'g'day'. Is oddshots every sunday?
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage to take the photo and not have your own reflection there too?
Cheers
maddy...thats what l was thinking too....
ReplyDeleteAnd David, that photograph is a gem!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool image, David! I was doing the same thing last Sunday (1 week ago for me) with a tree limb reflected in some high windows. at my church. I'll have to see how they came out when I upload them. Maybe I'll share.
ReplyDeleteHappy Week! & Cheers!
I love/collect sign photos .. these would have been part of my capture too

I love how you do this and keep yourself out of the shot. I know it's just a matter of standing to the side for you, but for us mere mortals that can prove quite difficult whilst also achieving the shot!
ReplyDeleteGreat odd shot. Mine up in just over two hours.
these are exactly the signs in my living room window. the reflection, though, is different.
ReplyDeleteI love the wolf looking on in the reflection...Peace - D
ReplyDeleteI have always liked pictures of signs. Whenever we travel abroad I am always taking a lot of pictures of signs. I think they speak so much of the culture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. visualizing a garden is more enjoyable than all the work it will take to clean that place.
I forgot to mention.
ReplyDeleteI went to school with a
David Mc Mahan who loved photography. It was just an intersting thought that passed through my grey matter.
That's a great photo, David. I love the dog looking in on things. This photo makes me think of Jack London.
ReplyDeletereflection times 2 or 3 super!! sandy
ReplyDeleteI have taken reflections of things in windows but if I saw a wolf in the window reflection, I wouldn't be stoppin' for a photo! I'd be out of there fast! Ü Good catch!
ReplyDeleteStop by and see mine. I have a new blog.
Paulie
