If you see an old brass cash register it is worth a fortune so snap it up. I used to work in R&D at National Cash Register Company and when first hired they took us on a company tour. The all brass cash registers commanded a stiff price back then (1957).
I saw your blog and found the piece of history your camera recorded. It is a blink, stopped dead-still, exposing the moment in time and the beauty you saw in this picture of the old cash register. Very nice.
I think those big ol' machines gave a person time to think of the money being spent and were thus a check on overspending. Those new-fangled lasers make it too easy to feel no pain while throwing money away.
And if the world keeps on the path it's treading, we may have to go back to those old cash registers! A lot prettier than what we have these days, though. Sandi

ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I love it up there. Left some of my hard earned cash at Diamond Tooth Gertie's too...
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Love the "Til Debt Do Us Part" -- very clever play on words for such an accurate statement.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love these memories of bygone times. Great shot. I have some of an old typewriter but the light was poor. :(
ReplyDeleteExcellent shot.

What an awesome antique register! So much simplier than the ones they have now! And your title is great! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Very nice photo David. Anna :)
ReplyDeleteSince this old cash register saw duty in Dawson, I wonder if there was a special drawer/compartment for GOLD.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful - the wood/the keys/ it looks like it still works.
