Short Shrift

Saddled With Quite A Reputation

English fire crews have been called out four times to rescue a tiny pony - because its legs are so short people think it's stuck in mud. Two fire engines and a specialist lifting vehicle have been despatched four times at a combined cost of about £8,000 to save the horse, which is half the size of others in the same paddock.

  6. Rumour has it that we are a nation of animal lovers......
However, sometimes I am forced to dispute that when I read of what goes on.
Maybe the owners need to put a notice round it's neck *I only have short legs*!

  9. I would have loved to call someone to save horses we saw in Puerto Rico while my mom was working there! What a shock it was to see a bunch of pick up trucks drive by on the highway with 1-2 horses tied up standing in the back!

I guess they never really had any problems doing that though, never once saw a horse n' truck accident on the side of the road!

  13. Its nice that so many people have wanted to rescue the pony, but it must be getting very expensive for the owner having to pay call out fees.

  16. I do think after the first couple of times the owner might have put a sign on the fence.
