Get The Lowdown

So, Is This Where J-Low Hangs Out, Too?

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Low-flying planes? Mate, I’m well over six foot – so does this sign mean I have more case to worry than most other tourists?

This shot was taken though the window of a fast-moving SUV in Alaska last year. We had just crossed the border at Poker Creek as we traversed the Top Of The World Highway. We were still a few miles from the little town of Chicken when I spotted this sign.

Okay, so it’s not the sharpest image I shot that day, but it’s certainly one that brought a smile to my face.

Visit TNChick's Photo Hunt. Today's theme: "Low''.

  5. Interesting name for a town, Chicken. I agree with Maggie May, you sound too tall to be out and about in this area.

  6. Perhaps it means: Beware of low-flying ducks and other flying objects??

Love the sign... and even better - a town called Chicken? That's too funny to be true... nearly! ;-)

  7. We have a lot of these signs out in the country here. They caution people to watch out for the crop dusters that fly over the rice fields. Brought a smile to my face, too.

  15. There aren't many places you'd see a sign like that, but Top of the World highway would be the most likely. Hope you didn't have any close encounters of the low-flying kind.
