Photographic Memories

The Quality Of Murphy Is Not Strained

A gnome taken from its owner’s garden in the UK seven months ago has been returned, accompanied by a photo album showing his travel adventures. In the album Murphy the gnome is pictured on a beach and hiking down a mountain. The gnome and the album were placed on owner Eve Stuart Kelso's doorstep accompanied by a note listing the many countries visited.

FOOTNOTE: Gnome man’s land.

  1. This isn't actually the first time I've heard of this little prank. In fact, I do believe it's where the American travel agency Travelocity came up with their "Roaming Gnome" mascot figure.

  2. Hey maybe that is what the thief of my ipod is doing right now. Boy do I wish. I am sure that gnome saw more of the world than I will "sigh". Oh well.

  3. During the journey what regulations were followed. Was it under jurisdiction of the individual nations, or was it Murphy's Law?

  5. Seems the thief has watched the movie Amélie too often:
"Amélie becomes a secret matchmaker and guardian angel, executing complex but hidden schemes impacting the lives of those around her with subtle, arm's-length manipulation, ... She persuades her father to follow his dream of touring the world by stealing his garden gnome and having an air-hostess friend send pictures of it from all over the world."

  8. In a way this is funny. In fact, I have a gnome, and I think he might like a little (or big) trip. But I'd be oh-so-worried about him if he just disappeared!
