There's none so handsome, with features so craggy
As Farmer Transom, from faroff Wonthaggi
He can milk the cows and shear the sheep
And drive a tractor, all in his sleep
As Farmer Transom, from faroff Wonthaggi
He can milk the cows and shear the sheep
And drive a tractor, all in his sleep
Well dip me in honey and call me Sally, there really is a place called Wonthaggi!
ReplyDeleteWonthaggi is located 128 kms south-east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia - less than two hours drive from Melbourne. Travel along the South Gippsland Highway from Melbourne, turning on to theBass Highway. Then follow the road through Grantville, Bass and Kilcunda before reaching Wonthaggi.
And here I thought you made the whole thing up!

Then he goes home and loves Little Bo Peep.
ReplyDeleteSo the old farmer finds himself ambling about in his sleep? I often wondered about all those reports of sleep driving, sleep eating...and all taking Ambien...ambien-ambling...perhaps the chemists had it right after all!

Heya David.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I plan on coming back to the blogosphere in earnest on 1/2/09...or is that 2/1/09 to you? Jan 2.
I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback that you might have for me as I go, as you are the godfather.
Wonthaggi sounds a sleepy place
ReplyDeleteThats why the farmer snores from his face.
I wouldn't want to be near that tractor
If he was sleeping, and thats a factor.
I think you ALWAYS use real towns....
But some of your characters sound real clowns.....!
I'm leaving this one well alone-Wonthaggi indeed.
ReplyDeleteWas he really so handsome
This farmer from Transom?
Or did he work in the night
So as not to give fright
To the beasties who found him quite gruesome?
He's a talented farmer,
ReplyDeleteThat is true!
But when he tractored the flower beds
His wife turned blue!
Beware to the farmer
Who closes his eyes!
His wife and her rolling pin
Will give him a surprise!
Instead of just napping
ReplyDeletehe didn't leave his work lapsing.
