Where's Rowan Atkinson When You Need Him?
Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

A couple of weeks ago we were at a local fiesta, with great food, wonderful company and a terrific programme of entertainment presented by school children. Midway through the afternoon, I was shooting some images under a large wooden pergola when I happened to look up. Of course, I swung my camera up immediately. Do you agree that the converging beams form an arresting sight?
(The Odd Shots concept came from Katney. Say "G'day" to her.)
Absolutely! I am learning sometimes that it pays to just look up. Or down...
ReplyDeleteAmazing! An umbrella springs to mind!
ReplyDeleteAh I see you are on the up and up David.lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments on my Camera Critters.
And g'day to you, David. I sat down to take a break from gardening, checked the clock and then checked my chart of time differences and YES, it is Monday morning in Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all learning that youi must look up, down, left, right, andover your shoulder as weel. Eyes always open for an amazing image.
Mine, which will post around midnight my time, is a set up this week. I know you don't do that, and I usually don't, but I think you will agree that for this one it works.
If I scroll the page up and down fast, it looks like the beams are moving.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good. It is often the odd direction that others don't often look that gets the coolest photos.
ReplyDeleteGlad you told me what it was, had decided upon closer inspection that it had to be the umbrella of the Jolly Green Giant...can we just say I'm right and let it go at that?
ReplyDeleteSandi
Yes, I alway looked up the ceiling to see what's there. I took many interesting designs and patterns of the ceilings/roofs of the palace during my korean trip.
ReplyDeleteAm kicking my-self here, as saw something similar the other day & my brain wasn't tuned into Odd Shot mode.
ReplyDeleteGood capture.
Mine's now up, ut it's not that odd.
Umbrella cam to my mind aswell.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do agree. It pays to look around!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, unusual pic. Very pleasing to the eye.
ReplyDeleteYou always get great shots of the simplest things David.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting shot. For some reason it makes me think of movement. Something slowly moving.
ReplyDeleteDid you know you had your high beams on?

G,day David! Thanks for the mention last friday at your P.O.T.D. I appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteGreat odd shot and a wonderful perspective. Great capture as always.
Have a nice tuesday!
I hardly looked around before I had my digital camera. Now, sometimes people wonder about me. I enjoyed seeing your artistic circle of beams.
ReplyDeleteInteresting construction! I'm assuming the builders used spikes to hold this thing together, eh? Or maybe there's something on the top side that we can see. Definitely worth looking up to see this.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave! I love symmetry and you caught it. It's great. (And I got my camera!!!) http://meeyauw-pad.blogspot.com/2008/05/odd-shots-skull.html
