Stuck In Gnome Man’s Land
A collection of gnomes and other creatures have taken sanctuary at a police station in Springfield, Oregon. A prankster recently stole 75 lawn ornaments from around town and placed them meticulously on the lawn of one house. Among the figurines are plastic and porcelain geese, deer, frogs and gnomes. Figurines that aren't claimed will be sold.

Disarming Character
Too Many Bench Presses For Homer
Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON
It's not the full bench of the Supreme Court, but it is certainly an opportunity to have your photograph taken with the five most famous residents of Springfield. Village Cinemas here in Australia have placed these life-size figures of the Simpson family on a bench outside each of their cinemas while `The Simpsons' movie is blitzing the box office.
But someone's obviously been a little too zealous in trying to get cosy with Homer at this cinema. Take a close look and you'll see that the family patriarch has lost his right arm. I want to know what's going to happen to the bench-and-figure sets after the movie finishes up in cinemas. Surely the promoters don't want all of them back. Surely ....

Marge Simpson, Catwalk Queen
She's A Model , After A Fashion
Marge Simpson has gone from harassed Springfield housewife to glam catwalk queen. Stylists for Harper’s Bazaar have transformed the cartoon character into a magazine model, for a eight-page photo shoot alongside supermodel Linda Evangelista. She is said to cut a stunning figure, draped in famous designer labels, including Versace, for a fashion spread in the August issue of glossy mag Harper's Bazaar. Yes, even Homer steps into a designer suit while Bart, Lisa and Maggie also joined the fashion shoot. But will Marge’s blue beehive be replaced by stunning straight locks? Watch this space.

Krusty The Crown
Too Many Springfields, Only One Winner
I didn’t realise that 16 US towns, all called Springfield, are competing for the honour of hosting the premiers of `The Simpsons Movie’ in July. According to CNN.com, officials from Springfield, Oregon, accepted an invitation from 20th Century Fox to toss their hat in the ring.
Fox will pick the winner after reviewing short film entries showcasing the community's positive aspects and links to the Simpsons. ``There’s plenty of serious issues to talk about, but this is something that we might as well try to have a little fun with," Springfield Mayor Sid Leiken told the Register-Guard newspaper.
