Spaced Out

You Calling Me An Astro-Nought?

A scientist has declared that long-distance space travel will leave us short, fat and bald. Astrobiologist Dr Lewis Dartness revealed at the Cheltenham Science Festival that living without gravity would cause space travellers' bones and muscles not to develop properly. He said "future spacemen and women are likely to become pretty chubby."

FOOTNOTE: Fat chance.

Short fat and bald? That would describe about half the men I know...funny, didn't know that they'd spent so much time in space!

Just like the people in Wall-E. Something to look forward to for us all. Maybe I'm half way to being an astronaut without knowing it.

Considering how much water is in our bodies and the behaviour of liquids in zero gravity the floating lump form seems fairly evident. Which is why we are having our astronauts do so much sport when they are up.
