Dismember Of Parliament?

They're Dying To Fix This Legislation

A little-known law which prohibits people dying while in the Houses of Parliament has been voted the UK's most ludicrous piece of legislation. Another law which states it is treason to use a postage stamp upside down was placed in second place by those polled by UKTV Gold. The most absurd international law was judged to be in the US state of Ohio, where it is illegal to get fish drunk. The 3931 people asked selected the laws from a shortlist of bizarre rules.

I'm glad I don't live in Ohio, cause I get drunk with my fish ALL THE TIME!

LOL

The awful part is, you have to assume that stupid laws like this came from somewhere.

As U.S. author and humorist Mark Twain wrote: “All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.”

So if a person dies in the Houses of Parliament, then said person would be arrested and sent to jail? Gotta wonder where these stupid laws originate from, undoubtedly from stupid people.

I would love to see that short list!

So...what's the penalty if they die? :)

Boy, aren't some of these laws just plain dumb but also hysterically funny too? Gotta love 'em for the entertainment value they provide since they are useless for anything else.

Hi BTBear,

How wonderful to hear from you again. I hope Mum and Dad took you to Ireland with them.

And have you made the Big Move yet?

In answer to your question: is there a difference between the three categories? I don't think so!

Hi Wendy,

That's made me smile. Maybe if they die in Parliament, they're sent to ``sleep'' with the fishes!

some native people use a special root to make the fish drunk and easy to catch. I wonder if that's what they are talking about.

Alternate Footnote -

Right honorable gentleman, Stuart Applesby, died Wednesday...as he spoke on the floor of the house of commons...He slipped on a drunken United States fish (Damn Yankees)...unfortunately he was holding a letter to be mailed with the postage carelessly placed upside down. The penalty for these crimes would be death, but he is already dead...BBC Reporting that Al Qaeda placed fish on floor in a new form of biological terrorism...

There are actually several well known American outlaws who's claim to fame was riding though Ohio getting fish drunk ans sending letters with upside down stamps. And that was just for kicks.

Hi Hammer,

Very interested in that comment - I thought it was only blokes who got drunk and went fishing to try and prove they were sober!

hahaha ROFL David :)) I wonder if the fish get arrested for being drunk! ;)

Theres an interesting quote...

"An amusing definition occurs to me: a divine anarchy. But the world will not understand. Men must become conscious of their psychic being and organise themselves spontaneously, without fixed rules and laws--that is the ideal.

For this one must be in contact with one's psychic being, one must be guided by it and the ego's authority and influence must disappear."

"I feel a heart attack coming on! Quick, get me to Parliament, so I can die on the floor there, just like so many well-intended efforts at reforming government."

An upside down stamp is treason? I was always told it meant love.
