He was late to the gate of Netherby Hall
But young Lochinvar was dressed for the ball
To wed the fair Ellen, 'midst shoutin' and yellin'
Then plot his escape on a GPS Magellan

Maureen and I have a Magellan, call her Maggie
She shows us the way; be it a church or abbey.
But sometimes we don’t listen for we may never learn
And old Maggie pipes up, says take the next legal U turn.
You know, Magellan has been known to fabricate tales of routes that don't exist. The last newly weds it helped out spent their wedding night sitting a top their car in the midst of a raging river.
LOL you're a genius lymeric writer David! Who else could go from Lochinvar to Magellan?
David, you are this is one of the best ones and funniest one. Thanks for sharing.
Also, we are getting close to Chrismas, lol, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for this year contributions, and links to my blog. All appreciated.
Wishing you happy holidays, and happy blogging all 2009 year long.
Anna :)
Ah Hah! The Magellan GPS is my Christmas wish! Perhaps this is a dangerous thing to bring to my husband :)!
Well written!
That was so funny!
We are getting (what we call a TOM TOM over here) for our daughter. It is a similar thing I believe. Hope she doesn't have trouble getting stuck anywhere with it. I have heard of people getting stuck in narrow places with a river in front of them & no where to turn.
Craig Glenn....... less of that old Maggie stuff..... please!
I read where in England people followed their GPS into a river. Be careful what you plot.
how weird is this..the farm we left last November was in the estate boundaries of Netherby Hall..old Reiver country!!!
We also have lots of Roman artifacts in the museum found in the grounds...
