These were not the easiest shots to take, because I had the sun coming strongly at my lens from about thirty degrees to my left. But a guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do, right? So I cupped my left hand around my lens hood and did the best I could do in the circumstances.
It’s a great door, isn’t it? Double door, really. Wooden surface. Painted yellow. Great stonemasonry surrounding it. But what sort of door is it? And how do you get to it?
Here’s an interesting piece of information. You can’t just walk up to it. Not so easy, mate. Why? You want to know why? Here’s why ….
It’s got about 10 metres of water in front of it. But yes, there is access. Let me explain. This is part of a side wall at a major Melbourne swimming centre with four pools. This is one of the smallest pools and yes, there is a walkway leading to the yellow door, but you can barely see it because of the angle of these shots.
It’s simply a door that leads to a storage area. But someone with a flair for design has endowed it with a special character all of its own. The aquatic mural is, of course, painted. And the stonemasonry? Yep, that’s painted on the wall as well.

So its now 'what's behind the gold door?' ... as always you got a lot of splash for your dive .. that quick dip inside the community pool has netted you some very good shots - no surprise there!

The mural is astonishing! It really takes a second look to be sure that the stonework isn't real. And I'd have to guess that the walkway in front of it doesn't allow for a lot of maneuvering room with the camera either. Well played sir!

Doors and doorways are very important to us humans in terms of imagery and symbolism. I used to have nightmares about them!

You've got me interested in doors now and they are more fascinating than I first thought. So many different kinds.
Your first picture had me guessing. Was it a car!

Strange that the water looked as though it lapped right up to the bottom of the yellow doors. Until you look closely that is.
Very interesting. A golden door that is almost impossible to get to that leads to not much. Heck, they had to paint it up to look good.
That kind of "graffiti" I like!
You always find the most interesting doors. I enjoyed how the perception changes as you back up and get the full perspective. Delightful!
Ever since having to jump in a pool with full regalia (gunbelt, pr24 cuffs, etc etc plus wearing a bpv to prove that I could save a drowning person I have a terror of swimming pools ..I wouldn't get past that narrow walkway on anybody's life...pretty, but not my cup of tea!

Great photos - and I was completely fooled by the painted rocks! I love it when creativity has a life of its own like this - no one had to paint it so beautifully, I suppose, and they didn't have to paint the door bright yellow...
