Soft Colours On A Tropical Evening

Last week, I was walking down a main street near Kuala Lumpur’s bustling Chinatown precinct, in search of a camera store where I could buy a spare memory card. My timing could not have been better, because there was a brief tinge of delicate pink in the darkening sky.
As I looked around for the best vantage points against which I could shoot the sunset scene, I spotted these buildings further up the street, to my left. I knew if I spent a couple of minutes walking over to photograph the buildings front-on, I would miss the last vestiges of colour from the sunset.
I walked quickly across Petaling Street and got as far to the edge of the pavement as I possibly could - without toppling over into the busy traffic - to hit the shutter on this one.

Definitely lucky, but it takes the right eye to see all the possibilities!
I guess having the right light and angle is key to a good photograph. Does this depend on the camera or would you say it depends more on whether you are a good photographer?

in order to be lucky, you have to be in the right place at the right time. and you seem to be able to do that more oten than an average mortal and that's hardly luck anymore.

Beautiful. Reminds me of Quilly's post "Neon..." something - just a day or so ago. The effects of the lighting is similar, only this shot suggests a jovial mood and Quilly's steps in neon light captured the sinister element.
