Guess Who Drove My Cab Today?
Michael Schumacher can add the unofficial title of Germany's fastest taxi driver to his other achievements after taking over behind the wheel to get his family to the airport on time. The retired Formula One champion drove the cab back to the airport himself after a trip out to the village of Gehuelz, near Coburg in southern Germany, left the family short of time to make their flight home. "It was crazy having Schumi driving, with me in the passenger seat," the taxi driver was quoted as saying. The seven-time world champion, who stopped racing last year, gave the driver a 100 euro tip on top of the 60 euro fare.

I bet that was a hell of a ride.
I have read about the incident.
:-) Schumacher had flown in a private jet with wife and kids from Switzerland to pick up an Australian-Shephard pup at a friend's home. Running late, according to interviews with the taxi driver, he politely asked if he could take over the wheel. Later the driver enthused over Schumi's elegant driving style: The ride was so smooth it felt as if there were no curves in the road. Here are some pictures, showing Schumi at the airport after the ride. He seems to be an incredibly nice guy. Good for him! :-)
That would have been an interesting traffic stop if he got picked up for speeding!
Wonder if the taxi driver had to go home and change afterwards???
Wow!!
Pity he didn't get a pic. Hope he was insured!
G'day Hammer,
I'm sure the guy will dine out (deservedly so) on that story for years!

I suppose one must do what one must do. Especially if one does it well.
That's awesome. I would love to experience that!
Thanks for stopping by my place!
