Lost And Confounded

Franklin, My Dear, I Do Give A Damn

Missing: one parrot with Brooklyn accent. Reward: $10,000. The African grey parrot named Franklin disappeared from a pet boarding facility in Manhattan the day before Thanksgiving, said owner Leigh Ann Frankel. "Franklin is my child. Every day he wakes up and says, 'Hi mommy, how are ya?"' she said. The fitness instructor said the 18-year-old parrot has been a comforting presence to her in tough times over the years. African gray parrots can live past 50 years.

You know, people will scoff, but I really feel sorry for the lady. The bird though, is probably out there livin' large, learnin' how to be a real bird. Coolness. I'm flashing on one of those old Lassie movies, where a series of lucky people get to enjoy a cool critter before it finds it's way home. of course, it could just as easily be eaten by a cat or hawk. Nature is brutal.
