Them's The Breaks

Yo, DJ, Get Down And Bust A Move

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

These colours of this breakdance display were just too vibrant to ignore. The rich shades on the display were highlighted by the clear blue sky in the background. It was as if the colours were just calling out to me to photograph them. So I did. I was also drawn to the wonderful caricature of the DJ. There was so much animation in his expression, too. Look at the rakish angle of his cap, the focus in his eyes, as well as the beetling eyebrows and the zest with which he is using the microphone. Now that's one cool dude.

Hi Nessa,

That's pretty much what attracted me to photograph the scene!

Fun!! Fun!! Fun!!
On the way NC coast, we get to see a Casino owned by a Spanish guy and he has a colorful giant like this DJ with a HUGE Sombrero on his head called "Pedro"!:D
For miles, you see "Pedro wants you" and then we pass the Casino, we see "Pedro sad!"!! Hahaha!

Hi Asha,

Sounds like a great image and just the sort of thing I;d love to photograph.

Did you take any pictures? If so, I'd love to see them on a post ...

pope terry with an homage to Agent 86, perhaps? :)

I've got a new client named Michael Dee, and I keep thinking he's one of the Beastie Boys...

I am ever amazed by the talent of some of these carnival prop fabricators and set painters. That's a great one.

So, he's the draw for an amusement ride, correct? I believe I'd have to settle for enjoying him from solid ground, taking one photo after another in search of one almost as good as yours!
