May Divorce Be With You

Gee, Your Address Is Kind Of Familiar

Fancy bumping into you here, dear! A Bosnian couple are getting divorced after finding out they had been chatting each other up online under fake names. Sana Klaric, 27, and husband Adnan, 32, from Zenica, poured out their hearts to each other over their marriage troubles, and both felt they had found their real soulmate. The couple met on an online chat forum while he was at work and she in an internet cafe, and started chatting under the names Sweetie and Prince of Joy. They eventually decided to meet up – with disastrous results.

I like this story but at the same time it feels sad that they could talk to each other so freely online and not in real life. It showed that there was still some spark between them, imagine finding 'the perfect person' online only to discover you are married to them!

How unbelievably sad!

The saddest part is tha they're walking away after the gift of what they discovered: that they really do share a deep connection. That should have been worth fighting for.

I have never been divorced, but I am stunned by how much anguish I feel over the broken marriages of friends and family. It's hard not to take it personally.

well, that's an existential headspinner!

i married you because you seemed perfect, then things got bad, then i found myself talking to you and that you were my soulmate and when i discovered it was the person i married i decided to divorce....stop the world i wanna get off...

A one in a million that they found each other. How sad they couldn't have sorted it out before. However it could be a new type of marriage therapy, and I am not joking, rather than face the other person with your concerns write them. They may be received rather than retaliated against.

That's hysterical!

Maybe, instead of getting a divorce, they ought to spend time getting to know each other all over again. Clearly, the initial spark is still there.

Halarious! This is the funniest thing I've heard since Ruth made her shocking comment of the year!

So much for chat rooms. I wonder if they each complained about their mates?

Are you kidding me? That's crazy! It reminds me of the song:
"If you like Pina Colidas, getting caught in the rain, and the sound of the ocean and the taste of champagne...." To married idiots who applied to the same personal add and found each other. I didn;t think that could happen for real.

Incredible. What an excellent short story idea that would make.

Good eye for the stories, too.

Priceless!

Why couldn't those two just hug each other after discovering they had so much to work on together? Maybe when the dust settles?
Or they realized they were both dishonest in their "frank" internet relationship?

Hi Victorya,

I was gobsmacked because I reckon they found each other twice ...

Hi Kimberly,

I'm still shaking my head that it ended in such an ironic manner.

Hi Dawn,

Exactly. EXACTLY. When the verbal communication broke down, they found (unwittingly) a virtual e-connection.

Hi Craver,

My experience precisely. You a mind reader, mate?

Hi Lime,

Yes, you said it exactly the way I would. Like I said to Victorya, they found each other not once but twice ...

Hi Vic,

As always, lots of wisdom in that suggestion. Many people articulate better on a keyboard - rather than face to face.

Hi Susan,

Yes. Obviously they had so much in common, judging by the fact that the re-established rapport on the internet when the real rapport had disappeared one-on-one.

Hi Dot,

It is one of the more curious reports I;ve seen all year.

Hi Catmoves,

Now there's a thought. Maybe the were destined to find each other again, in cyberspace.

Hi Colleen,

I know the song well - it's from the first Shrek movie, isn;t it!

This would be the perfect April 1 story - but the tragedy is that it's for real.

Hi Eric1313,

I can just see the Hollywood conferences now, with offers for the screenplay.

Hi Merisi,

Maybe they just couldn't find the one common connection needed to keep them together.

hehe...i think the key to their happiness and sadness lay in them only..if only they would have cared to pour out their troubles to one another ....and not to some unknown chat name on the net.....

so sad how quickly people decide to divorce. marriage is worth fighting for--even more so when they found that they were "soul mates" via the internet. sadly people would rather believe that their own marriage is a tragic mistake and that someone else out there is a better match. more often, we just need to work on being a better spouse ourselves and the marriage improves.

yeah, I'm late....but that's the whole premise of the Pina Colada song!

Wasn't there a pop song about something like that back in the late 70s. Very sad.
