Oui, Oui, We Want The Wii

Fun And (Virtual) Games

English pensioners bored with knitting and bridge have got hooked on a Nintendo Wii games console at their retirement home. Residents of the Sunrise Home in Birmingham - up to the age of 103 - have become avid video game fans since a chef brought in the console.

And next comes the senior version of the game console! :-)

I know people from all walks of life who are avid video game players. One, a cognitive psychology professor, is addicted to Tetris (warning: it's loud!)" (it's me, calling him addicted, I am sure he plays it in the interest of science *ggg*).

It is highly addictive... :)

Well David, I hope I'm still playing with my Wii when I'm that old! Everyone should have one, I play tennis, golf, baseball - and do extensive brain training exercises - all wearing my nightie! :)

(Btw, it's reckoned that with daily use you can lose up to 30lbs in a year without even trying to lose weight.)

the great thing about this is that since there is a wide variety of basic games that all require movement of the user it's a terrific and fun way for folks who might otherwise be entirely sednetary to move around. we have a wii and the boxing game that comes with it can really get your heart pumping and not just from tension but from punching wildly at your virtual opponent while playing!

btw, i have also finally posted my own 'toy story' in the vein of the book i had mentioned finding. a week late i know...but it's there.

the wii is awesome. I can see why anyone would get hooked on it... plus hooray for exercise.

Everyone who comes to our house wants to play with outs, young and old alike.
