In conclusion, I would just like to say I've been mentoring several bloggers for a while and it is important to know that the work of a blogger whose url has only 10 hits can be ranked alongside a blogger whose url has 10,000 hits or more. I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

I am thrilled to be moving up. I think the judging experience I had here two weeks ago, as well as, your helpful comments has helped me to improve my blog. At the least I am including more photographs and graphics.
Who would have thought an old previously-fat guy writing about his weight-loss experiences and posting remodeled recipes, could hold his own with all these great bloggers.

FYI: If you've come back since you left a comment, you'll see that I wrote a post asking my viewers if they'd rather have fewer photos on the page or smaller photos, and they all voted for trying fewer photos. Hope that solves the slow loading problem that you mentioned.

I'm taking the opportunity to use this list as a starting point for looking at what makes a great blog.
I blog mostly for myself - but lately I've wanted to say or do more with my blog, and living between Australia and Singapore, and spending a lot of time flitting around Asia, I end up with a whole lot of mish-mash on my site.
