The longest strike in history is thought to be that of apprentice barbers in Copenhagen, Denmark. It began in 1938 and was finally called off on 4 January 1961.
Wow. So how did Danes get their haircuts? Leave town to get one? Do it themselves at home or with help of family / companions? Or may be they're so long-lived that the barbers in 1938 just continued working on till 1961... :-)

Hi Sandip,
Must have been the origin of the expression ``short shrift.''
Altough all those apprentices must have gone into some other trade - IT perhaps!
Cheers
David
There is only one barber in town.
Every man is clean-shaven: some shave themselves, others go to the barber.
The barber, obviously, only shaves those who do not shave themselves.
Does the barber shave himself?
Looks like these clever apprentices got themselves out the easy way: tools down and walk out.
Aye, Chertmeister,
You worked that one out quicker than I did. They must have had an SOS on the picket line:
``Shave Our Souls''.
Couldn't resist that.
David
