I'm sorry this is later than normal, but it's been a busy 24 hours. Also, it's been a tough week to judge - as you can see by the fact that we have our first tie.
Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards are meant to encourage bloggers from all round the world and they give new bloggers the chance to get their work noticed in an increasingly popular forum, alongside the world's most-visited blogs.There is no monetary reward, no live TV coverage, no red carpet interview, but the exposure comes with international bragging rights. In conclusion, I would just like to say I've been mentoring several bloggers for a while and it is important to know that the work of a blogger whose url has only 10 hits can be ranked alongside a blogger whose url has 10,000 hits or more. I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

Don't stress about slipping four spots. A couple of blogs went from the mid-20s to oblivion in the past.

As for criteria - the two things I studiously avoid are:
a) how many hits your site has
b) how many other blogers link to your site
I rate blogs on editorial content, layout, originality, overall presentation and any X-factor that might pop up as a unique attribute.
