Like Cat Stevens Sang, It’s A Moon Shadow
Tonight at 7.52pm Melbourne time, Australians will get to see the first total lunar eclipse since July 2000. The moon, we’ve been told, will turn blood red in the Earth's shadow. I’ll be out there with my camera (and maybe even Pope Terry will follow suit at the Bendigo Vatican!) to bring you pictures of the event. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed the sky stays cloud-free. It'll be a great way to show you a rare right that European, Canadian and American bloggers will see hours later.

That will be 5.52pm in Singapore!! Do you think we can get to see it in Singapore??!
Yes, pics please sir =)
This may be a goofy question (I won't say stupid) but what is the best way for taking photos in the evening/at night? Flash? No flash? i've tried a few things and can never get the result I want.
I saw the full (complete) moon over the Vienna Woods last night. Or maybe it wasn't really full yet? Anyway, it hung there orangy and huge, always a beautiful sight. Good luck tonight!
Hi La Bellina Mammina,
Sounds like you might be in luck. If it's not hazy, you should get a grandstand view ....
There are two other bloggers I am in close contact with, who live in Singapore.

Hi Dan,
Keeping my fingers crossed. It's been a very cloudy day.
Not looking good at the momen and there's exactly three hours to go ....

Hi Jenera,
A flash will only illuminate something (depending on the various factors) a couple of meters or maybe three meters in satisfactory fashion.
But if you are shooting landscape at night or in low light, I would keep the flash off.
You might even have a ``night'' mode on the camera. Check it out and let me know ....

Hi Merisi,
It must have looked sensational. Hope you had your camera with you.

I shall be standing on second floor perch eagerly with camera hopefully, 7.25 hey, I shall prepare myself, Pope mobile away!
G'day Your Eminence,
Good to hear. Very cloudy in Melbourne, so I'm guessing you'll have a clearer sky up Bendigo way.
Must alert Simon as well ....
Cheers
David
Hope you get your pics...I had an email telling me that Mars was so close to the earth tht it would look like we had two moons...I did a bit of an internet hunt and it turns out it was a hoax.
yes it looks fairly clear, these a few clouds rolling into the west now, been warming up the old camera taking some shots of that. Hopefully the old squidgemo (long story but I just remembered thats what me and the boys called the moon at one stage) stays clear of them. but a red moon through some clouds should also look nice.
Well I tried but no luck the clouds parted just in time and all, but my crappy little kodak easy share cx6230, just wouldnt do the job, to dark, turned up the exposure and still nothing, hope you did better.
Hi Ruth,
Dunno about two moons - the cloud cover is so thick we can barely see the original moon.
Harrumph!
Cheers
David
G'day Your Eminence,
Thick cloud here. What a bummer!
Cheers

Oooooooh, where are they then?? C'mon, we want to see these - NOW, please. How exciting!
Hi Carol,
Shots were a disappointment. Just waiting for my daughter to finish her project and I'll upload the pictures. Might have one that is semi-semi-retrievable ....

Strangely enough, my wife and I were playing a video game last night, where we were required to take a "pictograph" of the full moon. And now, I've missed out on a REAL good photo op of the moon....go figure!
