This View Strikes A Chord

Things Must Be Looking Up

Photograph copyright: MATTHEW McMAHON

This shot was taken by my guitar-playing teenage son. In his own words: ``I was taking some bass-ic pictures of my bass guitar and I thought it would like good if I shot it from an unusual angle. I held the camera underneath the guitar and couldn't look through the viewfinder or at the LED screen, so just hoped the picture tuned out good. And it did.''

Later, when we reviewed the image on the computer, he realised an unusual detail on the frame. Look at the cropped version of the shot below and you'll see the high-gloss surface of the guitar shows a terrific reflection of the miniature fighter aircraft suspended from the ceiling of our rumpus room. The greyish dots are the thumb tacks from which the jets are suspended, by fishing line.

Very cool indeed. Love the reflections. I don't think we do 'rumpus' rooms over here - I think homes are generally smaller for one thing. I for one quite fancy a rumpus room though - a bit of a rumpus never did anyone any harm!

I see I have progressed to No.33 on the list:)

Hi Papoosue,

As Matt said, the reflection was an accident. He's very good with my Pentax and has a great sense of `The Shot' but for this one he used his sister's Canon.

Rumpus rooms are a big ietm on Aussie houses and our works really well because it opens out into the back yard.

Congratulations on making progress!

Cheers

David

Hi BTBear,

Saw the Concorde several times - on one occasion, when I was in a Tube train, I saw it coming in to land - and didn't have a camera handy!

Cheers
