At Her Vitz’ End

Anne Get Your Gumption

Take my crown off? You’re kidding. The Queen is seen rebuking famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in a new BBC documentary. Leibovitz was preparing to take an official portrait of the monarch at Buckingham Palace and did the unthinkable, asking Her Majesty to remove her crown. Suffice to say the crown stayed on.

Hi Keshi,

I would have asked her to get into a pair of faded jeans!

Sorry David, you in keeping with the UK press have reported on an incident that never occurred. The clip claimed by the BBC showing the Queen storming out of the photo shoot, was in fact a shot of her rushing to the photo session.

It’s a big story in the UK. Heads are going to roll at the BBC, the Controller of BBC1 TV, will be “promoted” to head of outside broadcasting in the Falklands. This occurred in the same week the BBC was fined £50,000 for falsifying a phone-in competition on a children’s TV program. Expect to see the BBC coming under scrutiny in the coming weeks.

Hi YesBut,

You just beat me to it. I saw the update of the story on the BBC and as you'll see, I edited my own post.

Not a good week at all for the Beeb.

Yes-but has beaten me to it! You wouldn't believe the uproar over this. The BBC has had to make an official apology to the Queen, and the storm has far from subsided..

Hi Carol,

You'll see there's nine minutes between YesBut's comment and my reply!

It's a serious error for any media outlet, but we all regard the Beeb as one of the most reliable.

Not a good week for them. And that's an understatement!

Make sure you keep your crown on, too.

On American TV there was a snippet in which Annie did ask that the Queen would look better without her crown for one particular shot. - oops, that should be Tiara, Annie.

Good thing Annie didn't ask the Queen to lie in a tub of Earl Grey tea with a splash of milk.

Blimey, you're quick! My crown slipped years ago, sorry to say.

Poor BBC. Now, they can't get all high and mighty about American news sources botching things.

Hi Darlene,

You always bring us an extra perspective. Tiara would have been entirely accurate, and the next time I'm invited to Buck House to photograph Her Maj, I'll tell her to get in the tub with Earl Grey and say ``Chewy told me to tell you that''.

What a downer, how disgusting, when even a news outlet like the BBC steeps so low. This time it was "only" an uproar over another cheap shot at the Queen, last time, if I remember correctly, they played an unsavoury role in the David Kelly affair, the WMD expert, who following his reputation being railroaded committed suicide.
I wished the responsible persons were never again able to work in journalism.

Yea, but can you imagine how cool the picture would have been if she'd done it. Why take just another crown shot? Understand the Queens reasons.
