Deck Whittington

Imagine If The Boy Stood On The Burdened Deck

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Even on a day when the sky is cloudy one moment and clear the next (it's a Melbourne thing - and we love it) there are still some striking images to be captured. My attention was drawn to the blue and yellow hull of this tourist-trip vessel, and of course the diffused reflection on the surface of the Yarra River. I paint watercolours, but this sight has convinced me to try oils as well. Stay tuned for an update ...

yes David, I can see oils lending themselves to this - especially the water... By the way, thanks for your good luck wishes for the exam. All done today - totally surreal experience - think/hope I did okay. Time will tell!

Great pictures - I saw several of them that were remarkable in your posts over the past few days in June, notably the Melbourne afternoon skyline, the Lip Sink, the Slinky Heart and the Mug Shot. All with those inimitable puns!

cloudy one moment and clear the next is definitely better than clear one moment, and pouring the next - that's a bangalore thing, i guess.
:)
Nice pic.

Hi Papoosue,

Hope the exam went well. I'm sure you'll come through with flying colours.

Yes, it was the yellow on the water that started me thinking about the oils ..

Cheers

Hi Sandip,

Many thanks for your kind praise. Puns? Dunno what you're talking about!

Strange, the four photographs you've mentioned are my four favourites from the past fortnight.

Must be that North Point background!

Have not been a daily visitor to your blogs (as I would like to be) but as you can see, you still figure on the Weekly Blog Awards.

Hope Rubina is enjoying herself.

Cheers

Hi 2thless 1da,

You're so right. I think we have got this figured out - we must petition our state bodies to make Bangalore and Melbourne sister cities.

At least we've been spared the devastating floods that have disrupted life further north, in the Hunter Valley and NSW Central Coast.

Nice to hear from you again.

Cheers

interesting to read: BOATS ONLY.

i have seen '2 wheelers only', 'cars only' signs here.

just curious: if they don't say 'Boats only', do they park ships or steamers there? ;)

regards
rk

Hi RK,

Your attention to detail is matched only by your great eyesight. I thought only I looked at the small details in photographs!

The sign actually says ``Commercial boats only''. But I have a different frame of the scene, with the focus on the words - because I found the sign rather incongruous, just as you did.

Thanks for the great comment.

Cheers

Yes, David, North Pointers think alike! :-) Thanks for those honorable mentions of my blog. I'm not prolific by any stretch and am happy with a post every few days.

Rubina is busy and enjoying herself. She has a mind of her own, as you can see from her comment on my latest Paris Hilton post on my personal blog:

May be others can come to my rescue. :-)

You are so right.

Yes, will check out Rubina's post. Very interested to see what her viewpoint is.
