In the 1982 blockbuster film `ET, The Extra-Terrestrial', Harrison Ford was cast as the school principal, but his only scene was cut. Director Steven Spielberg decided his presence in the film would be too distracting.
More Harrison Ford trivia: Many of his memorable movie moments were a direct result of his personal choices. Examples: Han Solo floundering while trying to smooth talk an Imperial after he shot up the detention area with Luke and Chewie (Right before blasts the console and says "boring conversation anyway."). He purposefully didn't try to learn his lines so he'd seem flat footed and unaware.
Indiana Jones shoots the swordsman...it was hot and Ford was sick. He suggested that instead of the huge choreographed sword fight that was planned, tha the just shoot the guy. Voila.
And the biggest example: The original script of The Empire Strikes Back Han Solo responds to Princess Leia's profession of love with "I love you too." Ford balked at that, and after discussing it with director Irvin Kershner, came up with the now iconic "I know."

Does someone read IMDb?

I LOVE IMDb! Chock full of cool info.
Hi Bart-Man,
Great stuff - why not post that on your blog as a reply to this Trivia Pur$uit segment.
I didn't know any of that.
But I do know that the scriptwriter of the movie was Ford's ex-wife!
Thanks for that great comment. Please post it on ya site! Don't fail me ....
Cheers
David
Hi FHB,
Actually, I found that in a book - and immediately clarified it on IMDB. Like you, I reckon it's a great site.

You are right, Harrison Ford is very distracting. :-)
Hi Debbie,
He's a great carpenter, too - that's how he got the gig on Star Wars.
Maybe I should post that as a Trivia Pursuit segment ...
Cheers
David
Maybe you should. But I appreciate him for much more than his handyman skills.
