The Astound Of Music

Now’s The Time To Rock On, With Jazz

This is for my childhood friend and fellow blogger, Patrick, who spent many fruitless moments in our teenage years trying to get me to understand and appreciate jazz. No dice. No go. Never even got out of first gear. Rock was what appealed to me. Being a callow youth, I told him – rather scathingly and rather often – that jazz was nothing but ``plink, plonk, plunk’’ music. But maybe I’m finally growing up. As you can see from the posts Everything You Wanted To Know About Sax and Everest Bass Camp I spent a good part of last Saturday actually entranced by jazz. So there.

Sure ya did.

I used to play jazz back in high school in the schools ensemble. Got my swing on. You know what they say, of course. Don't mean a thang if it ain't got that swang.

Hi Bart-Man,

Man, there is no end to your talent. The only musical instrument I can play is air guitar!

I agree totally about ``don't mean a thang if ya ain't got swang''.

Cheers
