In Good Spirits

How Do You Explain These Images?

About ten years ago, the Herald Sun in Melbourne published an amazing photograph, showing a cloud distinctly shaped like a 3D angel. It was one of the most amazing images I’ve ever seen. Now I’ve just seen another story about an Ohio couple, Beverley and Ron Johnson who think they might have captured a friend’s spirit in a photograph. I’m open-minded on this subject, so you can check the picture yourself at KiroTV.com. Just for the record, it was taken with a film camera, and the couple say nothing was spilled on the negative.

Hey David,

Sorry this is off-topic for this post.

I was scanning through your past "Blogs of the Week," and I think it's a neat idea, and obviously something that you work hard on.

I was just going to suggest that maybe you should design a little logo or graphic or something that people could put on their blogs when you chose them. Something like "an authorblog blog of the week" or "a David McMahon blog of the week", etc.

Just a suggestion, but I'm sure it would be neat for the people who are selected, and also might cause more readers to see it and submit their blogs for judgment (which may or may not be something you acutally want!).

Hi Luke,

No worries at all about posting off-topic. Thanks for dropping by and taking the trouble to comment.

You've given me a nudge on a subject I've been mulling over for a while.

My only argument might be that it could be perceived as an ego thing on my part. I guess the whole idea is to promote other people's blogs, not my own.

You know where I'm coming from, right?

Your thoughts are welcome on this subject ....

Look forward to hearing from you and anyone else who has an opinion on this

Once again, my thanks

Cheers

Hi rk,

Exactly - there's no explanation for it, is there?

Is it really? Is the answer to that what matters more than perception? ;)

I like luke's idea and I in case you implement it, pls do add my url to the request queue :)

Dropped in here from rk's site - looks like a nice site, will definitely revisit later.

Interesting photo but I'm a sceptic - could be some electrostatic interference (I just made that up ;) )

David,

I can understand your thinking, but the fact that you're concerned about the perception shows that it's not ego-driven.

I looked at some of the blogs on your top blogs list and many of them link to you anyway when the rankings come out; I'm not sure it would be that much of a difference.

Besides, you perform a service; there's nothing wrong with you being recognized for it.

Just my thoughts.

Hope things are well Down Under,

Luke

Sorry but I think this is just a splodge! I think it's a stretch when they say it's dove-shaped, too.

Weird stuff does happen to film.

I took a pic out of the window with my film camera the other year, to show people the view from my new place, and it developed with an over-image of the inside of my eye all across it!

I'll email it to you if you like!

Hi Luke,

A valuable opinion, honestly expressed - and I thank you most sincerely.

I see your point. It is defeinitely something I'll pursue, especially on the basis of what you've told me.

Appreciate your thoughts and your candour, mate.

Cheers

Hi Helena,

I'm with you on the dove image. Read my post a second time and you'll see a) I unequivocally state that the angle picture is one of the most memorable I've seen yet b) I simply quote the dove story without making any comment of my own!

You've actually reminded me of another photo-ghost story that I must post one day.

Say hello to that wonderful bear for me.

Hope this week is better than last week.

Keep smiling

David

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for dropping by. I certainly take on board your follow-up to Luke’s suggestion. Yes, I can see a persuasive argument taking shape and I think you and Luke are making an impressive case!

Like I said to Helena (see above) I specifically stated that the angel picture was astounding – but I made no such comment on the dove story. I simply presented it as it was reported, to let my readers make up their own minds.

Like you and Helena, I think it is an aberration and can be interpreted in many ways!

Again, thank you for visiting and for leaving a comment. Yes, I’ll certainly add your url to the request queue. Will check out your site as well.

Cheers

David
