Nice Angles, For Mister Bojangles
Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON
I love the vibrant colours of India. This shot shows an array of glass bangles (called ``churis'') at a roadside stall in Calcutta. As someone who grew up in India, I can still ``hear'' the distinctive sound of bangles on women's arms. These ones caught my eye because they were so neatly arrayed, in regimented colours along cardboard dividers. I've never seen bangles sell so fast, nor have I seen stocks replenished so rapidly. My favourite picture of bangles, however, can be seen at Star-Bangled Spanner.

colorful sounds, aren't they?
:)
Hi Toothless Wonder,
What a great name you've chosen! And what a great comment, too!
Colourful sounds indeed. And there is an art to wearing them, because they are extremely fragile.
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. Will check out your site shortly.
Take care
David
So nice all these colours look. I took one snap at a wedding of someone putting on a bangle and thats one of my fav shots. Will mail it across to you.
Sorry.. thats was me Siddharth
Hi Siddharth,
Looking forward to the shot. Should be able to post your other shot by the end of the week.
Say hi to Reem for me.

I do love these colourful photos David. Still avoiding revision;)
ah!! bangles..... an inportant ornament for an Indian woman. I'm yet to see one who wouldn't wear a bangle/bracelet on occasions if not as a regular wear!!
Ohhh Bangles !!!
I love them so much !! And wear them occasionally.. in some functions like marriages etc.
And that tinkling sound ?? Aah !! :)
@Toothless Wonder:-yesterday I was toothlessly wondering on my blog where you disappear in between. Now I know where all you go. ;)
Very nice, and a welcome relief from the, quite frankly, DISGUSTING goings-on around here... can't say more.
She's already annoyed that I posted about it.
Alas, David....I thought perhaps you'd taken a photograph of chips from a casino. Perhaps the pinks are worth $5, the greens $25, etc. Very nice shot, though.

Hi Papoosue,
You can dodge multiplication and division, but there's no escaping from revision!

Hi Sam
Exactly - Maybe we should have all gone into business, producing bangles!
Cheers

Hi Cuckoo,
Yes, they certainly have a magnetic effect. And that sound is so distinctive yet hard to describe!

Hi BTBear,
Whoa - I'd better trundle off and read your post, quick-smart!

Hi Brian,
And if they were alongside bangles of a larger size, they'd simply be a chip off the old block!
Cheers
