Melburnians didn't see the sun at all - except for about fifteen minutes at dawn and for not more than two minutes at dusk. Strangely enough, I was able to capture both moments at opposite ends of the city. And in each instance, there was just a narrow band of visibility under the low cloud.
In the dawn picture (above) that's the silhouette of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the venue of the Australian Football League grand final this weekend, between Geelong and Port Adelaide. And in the dusk picture (below) the pinpricks of light are the headlights of cars coming downhill.
