That Wasn’t My Line, It Was Bill Clinton’s
Want to pit your mindpower against that of former US president Bill Clinton? You can do it online. The former White House resident has supplied the clues to a crossword puzzle on the website of The New York Times Magazine, appearing this week. Jim Schachter, deputy editor of the magazine, said that Clinton was given the grid with the letters and asked to provide clues for the words.
The puzzle is part of a special issue on ``the new middle ages'' - as in baby boomers, not medieval times - and several clues poke fun at the boomer generation to which Clinton belongs. ``Boomer's update of a song from 1951's 'Show Boat?' ''That would be ``Ol Man Liver.''
Try the crossword online at New York Times Clinton Puzzle and you’ll definitely enjoy the experience. The web page even carries this introduction: ``Editor's Note: The clues in this puzzle are a little more playful and involve more wordplay than in a typical crossword. You have been warned. - Will Shortz.’’
Answers will be provided on the weekend of May 11. The crossword grid is also online at Gay Socialites.com.
