No, I wasn't using a fisheye lens - but by concentrating on this bauble, high up on a five-metre Christmas tree, I have managed to acquire a fisheye effect of everything above and behind me. What you see here is a very low-res image, so if you want to see the original full-size file, just click here to view it on my Red Bubble site.
This unusual Yuletide image was shot in Melbourne last November. These giant Christmas trees are on display in a public area and in order to shoot this bauble placed so high on the tree, I had to use my 300mm lens at full stretch!

Very clever shot David. :)
And what a beauty it produced, too!
Very cool. I love that. It really does seem to be something of an eye.
this must be the day for reflection shots in christmas ornaments...just came from another...love them...
That bauble must have been quite big to be on a tree that size!
And I spy your red jacket!
Do great minds run in the same track? I posted a similar image rthe other day, but since it was taken with my pocket camera, it's not nearly as clear and sharp as yours. Fun, though.
Very nice and clear.
I enjoy your post so much David and chuckle every time I read verse and worse....I know I don't comment every time but I have never missed a post, they are so enjoyable....:-)Hugs
I’ve pondered beginning my own author blog
To add to the haze of the Internet fog,
But as I scan your page, my ambitions disperse,
For it’s already done here, for better ... or verse.
Thanks for hosting such a great blog!
Great shot, with great play on words David.
Yippee I'm back in the land of Blggers, my friend.

Now that is one artist I enjoy listening to.
I was going to say something hopefully clever, and in French, like
trompe-l'œil, but I think I'm out of my depth.
This is a wonderful reflection of visual reality, especially this time of year.
Just stopping by to say good morning today. I pray you and your family are doing well.

Nice shot! I love the ornament shots I have been seeing lately! Fun, fun, fun!
As good as ever, David. I've been a bit lax lately, slipping in here and there but not stopping, sorry, had too much on my mind. Now things are a bit clearer and I can give time, stop and speak, say hello.
I hope that you and yours are having a wonderful holiday, David.
Beautiful shot, but my favorite part is that teensy bit of red reflected in the ball, in a sea of cool greens and blues!
I pray you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and are getting ready for a fantastic New Year. Hoping all is well for you.
Happy New Year to you, David,
may health and happiness be with you and your loved ones every day,
Merisi

I’m impressed. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do. You’re truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Really, great blog you’ve got here.
