The Sunday Roast

Denise Reminds Us To Pull Up Our Socks

This week's interview is with Denise,

who writes the blog Eat Play Love.

The first of the standard questions. Why do you blog?

Life just happened to steer me towards blogging a year ago. I've been staying home with my daughters for five years now and I simply needed something that was all mine. My place to connect with others. At the time, I had no idea that my little blog would help me make friends and come to know others I would have never met otherwise.

What's the story behind your blog name?

The story behind Eat Play Love is a simple one. It fully describes my life, my passions.

What is the best thing about being a blogger?

Community. Having a little corner of the blogosphere to call my own, with so many unique people all connected in this web. I can't forget trying to make others smile, knowing that I may have brightened someone's day with my words or photos. Quite honestly blogging makes my life feel whole, I can't imagine life before blogging!

What key advice would you give to a newbie blogger?

Write about what you love, not what you think others want to read. Spend time reading blogs you enjoy and leave a comment. The fame and fortune will come later. Won't it? Wait, someone tell me the fame and fortune is just around the corner.

What is the most significant blog post you've ever read?

I can't quite put my finger on one blog post, but overall I am most impacted by others stories. I am continually inspired by people's honesty. Not a day passes when I am not amazed by someone's artistic splendor with their words or camera.

What is the most significant blog post you've ever written?

Underlying in my need to electronically journal and allow others to read it, I struggle with how open I want to be. One day, feeling overwhelmed by an open enrolment process I was going through to get my daughter into an arts based kindergarten, class and society really hit home hard. I wrote a post, a very honest post, Mulling Thoughts, about where I see myself in the spectrum of the often unspoken class and how I view education playing a role in making one's way through life.

Today's Sunday Roast with Denise is the 47th in a weekly series of interviews with bloggers from around the world.

Enjoyed the interview very much. I'm not sure what a blog is most like...a little shop or a diary or a continually unrolling piece of art, a way to confess or connect or to be absolute ruler of a little kingdom.

What a wonderful bird a blog are.

I think I started reading Eat Play Love because I couldn't resist that great picture of the socks! Loved the interview.

I have to tell you, Denise is every bit as wonderful in person as she is in print. Started as blog friends and became IRL friends. So glad you found her to interview!
