It's not the North face of Everest. That's for sure. It's not shot outside Oliver North's home. That's for sure, too. But here's the challenge - can you guess where I was standing when I shot this image?
I'd be delighted to see your guesses in the comments - but if you want me to reveal the answer, all you have to do is click
here. Hope you have fun!

hanging out with santa claus? its not the designator for the north pole, right? smiles.
You were standing on the opposide side of North, probably facing West.
At the equator??
Brian, that's so clever. I should have looked for Santa - maybe he was standing near me, dressed in red!
Nope, I wasn't at the North Pole. (Whispers ... click the link for the answer!!)
Hi Willow, not the Equator. Every time I've crossed that line (!!) it's been in a plane.
Check out the answer - it's a shot not many people would take, even though people flock to this place!
A subway line, perhaps. Or a bus shelter. Going to check that link now.
Hilary, there is a detective department waiting to hire you. Great theory! But no, alas ....
I had no idea you were posting again David. Good to see you back. I have read the answer and would not have had a clue.
Hi Denise - it's so good to be back among all my blog friends.
Glad you checked out the answer. And thank you for the welcome!
Er....South? Too bad, I'll have to look.
Well..... I was going to make several suggestions but I see that others have beat me to it.
North America!

Nuts in May
Great job with the photo and stirring our interest.
I don't know, my brain has turned to jelly. Spent the day trying to think up a verse for you and failed miserably. Never mind though...just seeing your smiling face is pleasure enough for now.
Are you kidding me? How did I not know? Why didn't Daryl tell me earlier?!
I admit - not been around much and only have a month left until I lose my ability to type for a while...
Missed you my friend. Truly. VERY glad you are back!
Guess it would look ok from one's rear view mirror LOL Smiles
Right David, here is my reasoned answer.
You are standing on a ladder! LOL
Hello, David!!!
I guessed New York...but now I see on RB that you were someplace very SPECIAL in New York ;-) Super shot, David!!! So whimsical! Cheers to the amazing photographer from down under!!! :-)) Warmly, Janine
Hi Jenny Freckles,
Nice thinking - but I'm so glad you had a look to see the answer. Thank you!
Hi Maggie,
Yes, indeedy, "North" America is correct. And can you guess where exactly I was standing?
Thanks, TechnoBabe,
So glad you like the photo.
Hi Moannie,
More than anything else, please tell me the clever people at Blogger are in the process of resurrecting your blog of literary gems.
Yes? They are?
AIMS, my good friend,
(How can I ever forget your photo in the wig, holding THAT novel?) - what is this about losing the ability to type?
Please keep me informed of what is happening.
I know Daryl was away in Vegas when I re-launched the blog - or else she would have told you immediately.
We spoke about you when we met at Times Square in June. Very fondly, too.
Hi Eddie
If I'd thought of shooting it in a rear view mirror I'd be a genius.
And if I could get a car up there, I'd be even more of a genius!
Hi Eddie,
No ladder - but I was rather high up!
Great guess, Janine
And I'm so glad you clicked the link to clarify the answer.
And thank you so much for your kind endorsement of my photography.
I'm clueless....but one that refuses to look at the answer until I think and think..and think some more..and then probably won't look then...stubborn gurl I am!
Love this kind of thing!!!
Smiles from Jackie
It was indeed shot in North America, Jackie, but at a very famous address!
clever
(I read after the edit...smile)
I could have never guessed David. :(
I like this cute little new things you start off.
That inspired me to post pictures inviting captions and titles. :)
The mason-dixon line?
Thank you, Katherine,
I'm glad you liked the concept. NYC was such a visual city - and I met Daryl as well!
I'm so glad you like this idea, Indrani - really value the feedback.
I'm more than happy to enter your contest for titles and captions!
Kathleen, so great to see your comment. Really feels like a great homecoming.
Not the Mason-Dixon line, but it was shot at a famous US landmark! Click on the link on the post and you'll see the answer!
You were standing on the back side of that sign. :-)
Exactly, Jules. You are halfway to solving the puzzle.
i'm clueless but what a great capture. hope your week is going well.
Yukon?
It looks like a sign hung on to a corrigated iron building. But I'm sure I'm far away from the answer!! I'll have to check out the true answer.
CJ xx
I'm no good at puzzles so clicked on the answer before reading any of the comments...I would never have guessed anyway!
